Football Kenya Limited (FKL) have a new headquarters. The new offices are located behind the Moi International Sports Centre (MISC), Kasarani and was built as part of the Fifa goal project at an
approximate cost of Sh.28million. The completion of the building was a major achievement for the
federation which had since then been operating at Nyayo National Stadium.
However frequent run ins with the government always meant that the state would lock up the offices.
The new head-quarters was built over a six year period as the previous FKL officials had not been in good books with the government which was supposed to donate land for the project. Construction for the current building started four years ago and was completed within one year and hosts a hostel complete with kitchen, dining room and conference room.
The federation has already got an assurance from Fifa that it will fund the second phase that will hosts its offices.According to FKL Secretary General Sammy Obingo, the facility will be used to hold seminars as well as act as a hostel for all the country's national teams in the men and women category. “Our rooms are ready to host the teams as they have all the required facilities,” he said in an interview. To ensure that the facility does not remain idle, Obingo said it will be hired out to local clubs who may be in Nairobi for a Premier League match. He said the building of the facility has tremendously changed their operations and the public has begun to take them seriously. “It shows that we are a serious professional outfit and gives sponsors the confidence to do business with us,” he added.
